Fountains and Waterfalls of the Sonoran Desert

Fountains and waterfalls in desert climates not only require a durable structure, but also a well designed water system. Extreme temperature’s with wet conditions can affect many elements of fountain life here in the desert.

Where many fountains fail is that they don’t provide a way to cover the surface water protecting it from the many elements. A tanks exposure to sunlight will grow algae and evaporate water faster also collecting wind debris, insects and small animals that effect the pump.

Stone Cactus Gallery in Tucson Arizona manufactures a system that designed for a desert climate. The closed water system uses a rock medium to block out sunlight and filter the water providing a chemical free, safe source of water for desert wildlife. These systems have been proven in the desert with over 2400 units in operation since 2003.
